Lily Fertik is a contemporary painter based in Connecticut, whose work explores emotional presence through layered abstraction - recording time, movement, and inner awareness. Her practice is rooted in an intuitive process, where each painting evolves over time, guided by a deep connection to lived experience and the natural world.
While the act of painting is often energetic and exploratory, something shifts in the finished work - it can soften the mind, calm the heart, and invite a deeper connection within. My work is rooted in presence—an ongoing dialogue between movement, emotion, and the natural world. Each painting becomes a space to return to, a pull inward where we are reminded to slow down, to feel, and to reconnect.
There is a balance I seek between energy and stillness—between what is expressed and what is held. The process is intuitive, guided more by listening than directing.
It is in this space that something shifts.
A softening.
A remembering.
A connection to the heart—and from there, to the body and beyond.
